Laura 101, or, I Heart My Attitude
I'm the one of our group who's out front the most, has the closest connection to the body,
and does most of the external things during the day. Yeah, Allegra shares the load with me most of the time, but you get the
point. I'm 17 1/2 because I refuse to turn 18, and I refuse to grow up. Adulthood is an
anathema to me. Ptooie.
Don't even think of calling me the "host." I'm a fronter, and there's a big
difference. For one thing, we don't have a host or even
believe in the concept, at least for us. Fronting isn't what I am; it's what I do. It's
not my purpose in life. My purpose in life is to be Laura. Period, end of sentence.
So why is a 17 1/2-year-old "driving the bus," so to speak, down the road to our collective
healing? For the longest time, I dindn't have the slightest idea. I just woke up one night
around New Year's 1997 and found that I'd somehow been pushed up front to the driver's seat;
the bus was in motion at the speed limit, and I was on a six-lane highway during rush hour.
The rest, as they say, is history.

I Hate Mornings
It's not, however, how I want to spend my life. Certainly not caught up in the corporate
world of Manhattan, commuting in every day to spend eight hours doing stuff that I think is
totally meaningless. For what? $$Cha-CHING!$$. There but
for the grace of our twice-monthly underpaycheck go I, a person who would like to spend my
days like Winnie the Pooh, doing nothing in particular.
Maybe someday.
And in case anybody's wondering what's with all those Lauras, I'll explain so that people
don't get the wrong idea. The body's name isn't Laura, nor is it anything even remotely
close to the name Laura. The Lauras (Jeannine, Lauranine, laurajean, lila, brooke, lil laura,
and baby laura) get their names from mine becuz we have a shared origin.
Well, that's life in my little corner of paradise (NOT). In the meantime, if you're feeling
bored, go visit my agn*stic page. If you're really bored, go visit my previous page (I changed it because I realized the beach stuff was about
others and not about me) and Rachel's and my original page. Or go read our blog, which
you can get to from our Talk to Us! page.
